Savandurga Hills: The first and foremost trekking destination that is extremely popular for all the young adventure enthusiasts of Bengaluru is the Savandurga Hills, located at a short distance of only 48kms from the city centre. Savandurga hills trek can be classified as easy to moderate and has an average elevation of 4022 feet.

Savandurga hills offer two main trekking trails that run up to Savanadurga namely – the Karigudda trail and Billiguda trail. The Billiguda trail is perfect for beginners and passes through KempeGowda fort. The trek to the fort can be a bit challenging, nevertheless, it is a quite satisfying trek. For adventure enthusiasts, the Karigudda trail is more apt with steep slopes, slippery boulders and rocky terrain. The best time for trekking in this region is during the summers when the weather is pleasant and the terrain is dry.

Nandi Hills: Nandi Hills or Nandi Durga is a popular weekend destination and trekking destination located in close proximity of Bangalore city. Trekking and bicycling are two very popular activities that draw people to the picturesque locales of Nandi Hills. There are two trekking trails to the Nandi Hills, one lies to the north of the Nandi hills and other lies to the south.

There are few quality hotels and resorts in Nandi hills so you can easily enjoy night treks or early morning treks to catch the mesmerising sunrise. The best thing about trekking at Nandi Hills is that it can be enjoyed throughout the year. The trekking difficulty level ranges between easy to moderate and is perfect rejuvenating activity for all the corporate employees who spend a major part of their lives confined to their boring cubicles.

Skandagiri: If you are looking for a more thrilling trek then Skandagiri is the place to be. The Skandagiri trek difficulty level can be classified as moderate and is great for experienced trekkers. Skandagiri is quite popular for its night treks which are best enjoyed on a full moon night. One can also go for early morning trek to catch the spectacular sunrise.

Skandagiri is suitably located at a short distance of only 61 kms from the city centre. It is basically an ancient mountain fortress and has an old dilapidated structure that was once used by Tipu Sultan. There are two caves that one will encounter on the uphill trek; one cave lies on the base of the hill, while the other cave lies somewhere midway of the trek. There are two routes to reach the base of the hill one from Chikkaballapur town and the other is a detour from the road that leads to Nandi Hills.

KuntiBetta:KuntiBetta, located at a distance of about 122 km from the city centre, is a charming hill that has rich significance in Hindu Mythology and is a popular pilgrim destination. It is believed that the Pandavas had been there during their exile days. KuntiBetta is marked by two rocky hills with paddy fields, coconut trees and sugarcane fields surrounding the region.

KuntiBetta offers one of the best trekking trails which serve for exhilarating night treks. The trek begins from the temple located at the base of the hill and it takes nearly two hours to complete this trek. Some of the other activities one can enjoy here include mountain climbing and rappelling. The best time to visit KuntiBetta is during the months of October to May.
